The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo...The Movie

Tonight’s movie…”The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”.

I’ve heard a lot about this movie and have been interested to watch it for some time. A friend of mine told me that he had a hard time getting through some of the graphic scenes so I was well warned in advance of what to expect.

This movie stars Swedish stars Michael Nygvist (Mikael Blomkvist) who plays a shunned journalist and Noomi Rapace (Lisbeth Salander) who’s role is that of a hacker with a troubled past.
After Blomkvist has been accused of slandering a financier of trafficking, he is than hired by Henrik Vanger who wants him to investigate the case of his missing neice, Harriet. She has been missing for over 40 years. With his side-kick Lisbeth aiding him, they discover the hidden truth that lurks around the Vanger family members.

This movie was slow to start, but it does pick up mid-point. There is also some explicit scenes that I could have went without watching, however, I’m sure it was directed that way for a reason. I’ve never seen both actors in any other movies but word is that Noomi will be starring the upcoming Sherlock Holmes 2 film.

I got to say that she did a phenomenal job of playing the emotionally withdrawn and dark heroine. The bond between the two characters seems to be a little shaky though. Mikael seems needy and Noomi seems quite introverted. They mystery behind her dark nature doesn’t seem to be explained so much in this film, but there are 2 other films (The Girl Who Played with Fire & The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest) that relate to this one where I’m hoping I can get some answers. Or…I could just read the books,s which I’m sure are more detailed.

This movie was almost 3 hours long and I do believe it could have been a tad bit shorter, but nonetheless, this was a good film packed with mystery. If you haven’t seen it, but a reminder…there are graphic and uncomfortable scenes in this movie. You were warned.

I give this movie...

Good Story & Great Acting
