The Scarlet Letter...Ms. Keys vs. Ms. Barrino

There's something I want to get off my chest so I will stand on my soap box for a moment and let it all out...

For about a year now I've been completely disturbed by the public's reaction to singer/songwriter Alicia Keys affair with producer Swizz Beats. It seems that everywhere I turn people are so quick to make excuses for the fact that she was sleeping with a married man for almost 3 yrs. I understand this news is hard for people to take in when you see beautiful, soulful and talented Alicia singing about being a "Superwoman" and how "Karma" will come back around, but for a minute I'd like for people to see this girl for who she really is and stop with the justifications.

3 yrs is a very long time for someone to be deceitful. She couldn't have been too distraught about any pain she was inflicting on the wife of Swizz Beats (Mashonda) and she sure as heck wasn't smart enough to put it together that he was messing with the both of them seeing as Mashonda had his baby in the Summer of 2008. I get disgusted when I read online comments from people who say that Swizz was right to "upgrade" from a one-time wonder to a grammy award winner. Then there's the folks who say that Alicia is "obviously" more attractive than Mashonda and that she should have done more to keep her man satisfied so that he wouldn't want to have an affair.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and Mashonda is JUST as gorgeous as Alicia (in my humble opinion). Shouldn't the woman who beared his two children and stood by him before he had dough to blow be given more credit? It's absolutely ridiculous that the media has pinned Fantasia as a crazy adultress when she's done the same damn thing that Ms. Keys did.

I read this article which highlights the similarities and differences between the two ladies and their shameful choices. I found it to be a good read and I couldn't have said it better myself.

What goes around
Comes around
What goes up
Must come down

Just waiting to see when Ms. Keys "Falling" refers to her falling off the pedestal that society has placed her on.
